Lyrics: How Do I Sing From A Broken Heart?

How do I sing from a broken heart?
I was a songbird nearly lost but found
You said to me the blue sky was no limit
But suddenly I was falling to the ground
I saw my heart with your black arrow in it
All I wanted was to soar above the clouds
On wings of love that need not carry fears
By your side I wanted you to be so proud
But the rain that falls with me is made of tears
So, can you tell me
How do I sing from a broken heart?
When each word you never said
Has made me slowly come apart
So, can you tell me
How do I sing from a broken heart?
Hoping that your eyes would say
What your lips would not
Longing for the days when you returned
Even though you were no longer mine
All that I could do with time was yearn
You made me feel alive, but every day I died
So, can you tell me
How do I sing from a broken heart?
I guess you never really loved me
Not even at the start
So, can you tell me
How do I sing from a broken heart?
Oh, why did you have to stray
And leave me only with your thought?
When I first saw you
Life turned from greys
To every single colour
Set ablaze
But blinded by your presence
I did not see
How I was headed
For tragedy
So, can you tell me
How do I sing from a broken heart?
When each touch you gave to her
Has made the flame in me depart
Please, someone, tell me
How do I sing from a broken heart?
Ooh, to sing another day
Why could I not fly away?

About the Song:
This is a song about one of the world’s greatest and most tragic love stories. When the famous opera singer Maria Callas fell in love with the Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis, it became her undoing. Ending her marriage to be with him, she gave her heart and ultimately her career for him. In return, Aristotle gave her heartbreak when he suddenly married Jaqueline, President John F. Kennedy's famous widow. He continued seeing Maria at his convenience, but he was never truly hers. At just 53 years old, she died of a heart attack, though it is said what she really died from, was a broken heart.
